wk 2 Assignment #3 Understanding by Design
Long term goals are the key to Backward design. Backward Design is when you plan your lesson “backward”. You first decide what you want the students to come out with and base your lesson on the desired outcome. By having long term goals, you enable yourself to catch all teachable moments. Teachable moments are the times when an unexpected teaching opportunity comes up, you can only catch them if you have a planned outcome. Goals are what we want the students coming out with- not the content of the lesson.
